Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana.- El expelotero dominicano de Grandes Ligas David Ortiz, ‘Big Papi’, se recupera satisfactoriamente del disparo sufrido la pasada noche cuando se encontraba en un establecimiento de la zona oriental de Santo Domingo y este mismo lunes viajó a Boston (EE.UU.), donde se encuentra su familia.

Una ambulancia trasladó a ‘Big Papi’ desde la clínica de la capital hasta el aeropuerto Internacional de las Américas, desde donde despegó en un avión ambulancia sobre las 18.20 hora local (22.00 GTM).

El equipo médico que atendió al exdeportista ofreció previamente una rueda de prensa informando de que Ortiz se encuentra «estable» tras una operación en la que se le extirpó parte del intestino delgado, del grueso y la vesícula, ya fue extubado y su evolución le permite viajar “en el día de hoy en un avión ambulancia con toda seguridad”.

Por su parte, el padre del exbeisbolista, Leo Ortiz, agradeció las atenciones recibidas en la clínica y aclaró que la decisión de trasladarlo se debe a que su familia y médicos personales se encuentran en la ciudad estadounidense.

Las autoridades continúan con las investigaciones sobre el suceso y descartaron que el móvil del ataque fuera un asalto, según indicó a la prensa este lunes el procurador general de la República, Jean Alain Rodríguez.

Por su parte, el portavoz de la Policía Nacional, Frank Félix Durán, dijo a medios locales que un hombre identificado como Eddy Vladimir Féliz García está detenido y será interrogado en el transcurso de este lunes, mientras se busca a una segunda persona que acompañaba al sospechoso en el momento del hecho.

Además de Ortiz, en el incidente resultó herido de bala en una pierna el comunicador Jhoel López, que le acompañaba, y que se encuentra estable y fuera de peligro, según su familia.
